About the Basketball Premier League (BPL)

A New Era for Basketball in the UK

The Basketball Premier League (BPL) is the first-of-its-kind professional basketball league in the United Kingdom, built to rival the best leagues in the world. With 14 elite teams playing in world-class arenas, the BPL is designed to transform the UK basketball landscape and create a platform for the sport to thrive at the highest level.

Despite being the fastest-growing sport in the UK, basketball has lacked a top-tier, commercially viable league—until now. The BPL is here to fill that gap, delivering high-energy competition, world-class talent, and an unforgettable fan experience across the nation.

Our Mission

The Basketball Premier League’s mission is to establish a world-class basketball ecosystem in the UK, developing the sport at the professional, grassroots, and community levels. We aim to:
🏀 Deliver an elite basketball product that captivates fans and attracts global attention.
🌍 Develop homegrown talent and provide a clear pathway from youth basketball to the professional level.
💼 Create a commercially sustainable league that drives investment, sponsorship, and media engagement.
🎟 Bring fans closer to the game through cutting-edge media production, immersive experiences, and community-driven initiatives.

The Teams & Competition

The BPL will launch with 14 teams, strategically located across major UK cities. Each team will compete in state-of-the-art arenas, ensuring a premium in-game experience for fans. The league will feature:
✅ A 30-game regular season with top teams advancing to the playoffs.
✅ High-quality media production, bringing the game to audiences worldwide.
✅ A focus on fan engagement, making basketball more accessible, exciting, and immersive.

Why Now?

Basketball in the UK is at a turning point. The sport has a rapidly growing fan base, high participation rates, and a thriving community of young athletes. However, without a professional league at the highest level, its potential remains untapped.

The BPL is not just a league—it’s a movement. A movement to establish basketball as a major sport in the UK, provide a global platform for British talent, and position the UK as a premier basketball destination on the international stage.
